Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart: Thursday Page

Stone Ridge

Dear Stone Ridge Community,

We are very excited to welcome our students and families back to campus next week and begin a fantastic school year together!  As most of you have already seen up close or observed from passing by, the campus has transformed as construction for the turf field facility moves along and the new roads are paved.

This special communication is focused on one of the most essential safety elements of our daily proceedings: transportation safety on campus.  Having completed our AIMS accreditation and listened to constructive feedback from the community, we know that certain areas on campus needed attention. Additionally, with the new roadways and the current construction, the administration carefully re-evaluated and assessed traffic flow improvements for campus.

In order to improve traffic flow, we have made two significant changes to the transportation plan: 1.) opened a new entrance on Cedar Lane (across from Elmhirst Pkwy), and 2.) instituted a clockwise, one-way circulation route on the main campus roadway. This one-way traffic route will go into effect on Tuesday, September 4, and will remain one-way at all times. This change requires all drivers on our campus to carefully read the policies below, study the revised map (link here), pay strict attention to new signage, and take direction from our staff directing traffic to guide you safely through campus.

As you plan your back-to-school schedule for your family, I highly encourage that you consider a carpool with a Stone Ridge family.  You may use the carpool finder located Inside SR. I also recommend that you allow for plenty of time in your morning routine.  There are many construction projects in the near vicinity.  Allowing extra time for your commute will reduce your stress, your child’s stress, and possibly also reduce the speed of your vehicle on campus!

We appreciate your patience as we adapt to a new traffic pattern. As we live with this new traffic pattern during the first few weeks of school, I am certain that adjustments and tweaks will be made accordingly to ensure a more seamless plan.  The guidelines below are all part of how we keep our students, staff, and visitors safe and prepare them for a successful school experience. I thank you in advance for your full support, patience, and assistance with this safety issue.

Sincerely,

Catherine Ronan Karrels '86
