Daily Bus Manifest
Daily, a manifest will be created for each bus run to account for the students who board and ride the bus to and from Stone Ridge. It will be the responsibility of each student to clearly state her/his name to the bus driver upon boarding.

Due to the unpredictable nature of traffic in our area, the bus may arrive early or be a few minutes late.

“Stone Ridge is the fertile soil that has rooted my daughters and allowed them to blossom into young women with strong minds, physical strength and strength in character. It is the single most important blessing in our life that has helped me raise three daughters, navigating life's challenges with grace. Truly the five goals are the right pathway to raise children in today's world. I've driven for 14 years over the bridge from Virginia everyday for the five Sacred heart goals.” ~ Parent Demetra Tsantes (Aryiro ’25 Phaedra ’18, Ariadne ’16)

Campus Safety - Driving and Parking
Driving, parking, and road safety on campus
10 things Stone Ridge families and guests need to know about
driving, parking, and road safety on campus...
1. Main Cedar Lane entrance: The Cedar Lane entrance across from Elmhirst Parkway is the main entrance to campus and is serviced by a traffic signal.
2. Secondary Cedar Lane entrance: The secondary Cedar Lane entrance is a right in and right out only.
3. Gravel Road (behind campus): This road is closed at this time.
4. Rockville Pike entrance: Please note that you must turn left upon entrance to campus in order to obey the one-way traffic flow of the main campus roadway. This entrance is closed after drop off and reopens before pick up (8:15 am - 2:30 pm). During these hours please enter campus from Cedar Lane.
5. You are expected to drive safely and responsibly on campus.
- Faculty, staff, security personnel, and uniformed police officers at times may direct traffic during drop-off and pick-up. Watch for and follow their instructions.
- During drop-off and pick-up, please obey all stop signs if you are not being waved through!
- The speed limit on campus is 10 MPH. Always drive slowly.
- Cell phone use is strictly prohibited while driving on campus.
6. Stone Ridge has many pedestrians on campus—keep them safe.
- Students should be discharged at the appropriate designated locations only—note new crosswalk area on map for students and staff walking from the Gym parking lots.
- State law states that pedestrians have the right of way.
- Remember that small children are unpredictable and can run suddenly into roadways.
7. We encourage Middle and Upper School students to be dropped off at the Hamilton House Circle and Upper School Academic Building respectively. See map for details.
8. When parking on campus, obey all signs and parking regulations.
- Visitor parking is provided in the visitor lot adjacent to the front drive to Hamilton House and in the Cedar Lane lot. Visitors for athletic events after school also may park in the lots near the gyms and pool.
- Parking in fire lanes (yellow curb lanes) is strictly prohibited.
- Parking or standing in front of the gymnasiums is prohibited; as noted above, Upper School athletes should be picked up behind Gym 1 and Middle School athletes at Hamilton House after practices.
- Every student driver must be registered and have a Stone Ridge parking sticker on her car. Only students in Grades 11 and 12 may apply for student parking. Parking is limited and is assigned on a first come basis.
- Student drivers must use assigned student spaces only, marked by yellow striping, along the fence.
9. Help reduce the number of cars on campus, for safety and a healthier environment.
- The "Parent Directory" on Inside SR can help you arrange a carpool.
- Stone Ridge is in walking distance of the Medical Center Red Line Metro stop, with free morning (7:35 am) and after school (3:30 pm and 6:15 pm) van service to campus.
- Stone Ridge offers multiple bus routes: Please see the bus services tabs.
- With the new sidewalks on and near campus, families that live nearby may want to walk in nicer weather.
10. Stone Ridge has many neighbors, and our driving habits affect them.
- Do not take shortcuts through neighborhoods.
- Enter and exit campus with great care, especially when uniformed police are not present to direct traffic.
- Be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists on the Cedar Lane and Rockville Pike sidewalks.
- Wherever you drive with a "Stone Ridge" bumper sticker or other visible SR paraphernalia, remember that your driving habits reflect on the entire School community.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Lower School
Arrival:
- Arrival is in the Lower School circle between 7:30 and 7:55 am. Greeters will be in the circle to receive children starting at 7:30 am until 7:55 am. Please do not let your child get out of the car before you see the greeters arrive at 7:30 am.
- It is imperative that children not enter school before the greeters arrive as there is no supervision before 7:30 am.
- All children will exit from the sidewalk/passenger’s side.
- If you need to drop anything off to the classroom or to the office, a greeter will take it and deliver it for you. If you prefer, you can park in the visitor’s spots in front of the Upper School and walk your items in. Do not park in the LS circle.
- Do not pass the car in front of you because it may cause a safety concern.
Pick up:
- Dismissal for the LS begins at 3:00 pm and continues until 3:25 pm.
- Please follow the directions of the staff to maintain safety and efficiency during pickup and dismissal.
- Do not pass the car in front of you because it may cause a safety concern.
- Any child who is not picked up by 3:25 pm will automatically be checked into Extended Day and can be picked up from there. Weather permitting, Extended Day is outside on the playground until 4:00 pm and in the Pre-K and Preschool rooms after 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm (6 pm on Fridays). The extension to reach Extended Day staff is ext. 1254 and ext. 1256.
- If you know you will be arriving after 3:25 pm or if there is any change to your usual dismissal plan, please send an email to lsoffice@stoneridgeschool.org by 2:30 pm and we will note the change.
- Please display your name card in your visor or on your dashboard so we can call your child to dismiss.
- Lower School students with siblings in Middle School may be dismissed with their older siblings between 3:30 and 3:45 pm at the Hamilton House circle. If parents elect to do this, their children will be escorted to Middle School dismissal to avoid parents having to join two traffic lines.
Extended Day Pickup:
- Extended Day is available from 3:00 to 6:30 pm Monday-Thursday and until 6:00 pm on Fridays.
- When arriving to pick up your child from Extended Day after 4:00 pm, please park in the circle and enter through the Preschool room (the door closest to cone 1). Ring the doorbell and a staff member will open for you.

Ring the bell, and a staff member will open for you.

- All drivers should display a family name card on the car visor to facilitate the carpool line.

- If you arrive after 3:20 pm and your daughter is not ready for dismissal, you will be directed to park in the Hamilton House visitor lot.
