Lower School

Dear Friends,

It is my great joy to welcome you to the Lower School community at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Ours is a tradition of academic excellence, dynamic faith, informed service and, personal growth grounded in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

Although we all enjoy membership in the Lower School community, at Stone Ridge our children occupy center stage. That is as it should be. Each student is guided to develop in wonderful, unique ways. Any classroom, on any given day, is full of signs of teachers doing whatever it takes to make the learning come alive! No two of our teachers follow the same path or go about the business of teaching in the same way, and yet they share two traits: love of children and passion for their work.

For over two hundred years, in Sacred Heart schools around the globe, our commitment to purposeful work, to creativity, to beauty, and to loving relationships has informed a superior educational experience for young women. Today, we are pleased to offer an elementary program that is unique and unrivaled in suburban Washington. From our youngest students in our co-educational Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten, to our single-sex programs for girls in Grades One to Four, children are nurtured and supported at every turn.  Students in Lower School enter as tentative, young learners, and they emerge as confident, capable, servant leaders.

After you have explored our virtual campus, I would encourage you to visit our historic campus in Bethesda where you will experience first-hand the richness of a Stone Ridge education. As a visitor, you will discover that when you come to a Sacred Heart school, you have entered into a family. The latchkey is out – welcome home!

Warmly,

Scott W.C. Lawrence
