Equal emphasis is placed on math, science, the arts, and the study of history, literature, and language as well as athletics. Our curriculum also teaches a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith, and provides space for each girl, of any faith, to develop her spiritual self.
The Stone Ridge classroom environment allows the girls to find their voice, speak up, and build relationships with peers and teachers. Girls thrive on interactive projects, working in smaller collaborative teams, rather than on passive listening. Stone Ridge utilizes technology throughout the curriculum, giving the girls a strong base of computer skills. The positive female role models found in our teachers, coaches, and in the Upper School students help our Middle School girls, during this time of adolescence, maintain a healthy self-image and have the courage to explore new interests. Stone Ridge girls become instilled with a passion, focus, and curiosity for learning and for life.
Our Advisory program in the Middle School provides for consistent interaction between the students and teachers. Each year, our students in Grades 5-8 are placed in an Advisory of nine to eleven students with one grade-level faculty member, meeting often to discuss school issues, develop peer relationships, build community, and plan activities. Advisors also meet with advisees on an one-to-one basis to discuss both the student's academic and social/emotional progress. The Study Hall program allows for set times in the schedule for all teachers to be available to students, and for students to work with other students on specific projects.
Middle School at Stone Ridge provides an extraordinary journey of growth for girls and positions them to flourish in the high school years ahead.
