Stone Ridge Global Studies Certificate Program Components
Academic courses:
- 4th year World Language (same language for 4 years)
- 4th year of History/Social Sciences
- 4th year of Theology: World Religions
- 2 additional courses from the approved list of Global Studies courses
- An additional World Language
- AP African American Studies
- AP Art History
- AP Psychology
- Social Sciences for Social Problems
- Honors Economics
- AP Environmental Science
- Summer Course: Topics in Astronomy and Atmospheric Science (half credit)
- Summer Course: Environmental and Wildlife Conservation Field Studies (half credit)
- Literature of the African Diaspora (half credit)
- Women’s Literature (half credit)
An intercultural experience in Second, Third, and Fourth Academic year (at least one per year).
For example:
- Sacred Heart International Exchange
- SR Global Education Spring/Summer Travel
- Ignatian Solidarity Teach-In
- Summer Service Travel: ASP, Network Service Project
- Summer Language Study (courses taught at accredited institutions)
- Outdoor Education
- World Youth Day
- Or other approved event/activity
Community engagement in Third and Fourth Academic year (at least one per year).
For example:
- Dialogue Training
- DCGs
- SCGs
- Student clubs with international mission
- Model UN
- Debate Team
- SASAB, SAL work, Social Action site
- Or other approved activity
Additional requirements:
- Summer Job Shadow and Written Reflection (summer after Second or Third Academic year, 20-30 hours)
- Research and Interview of a Field Expert (Third Academic year) and publication in the Here and Now
- Teach Out: participation in Global Summit in Spring of the Fourth Academic year
Eligible students who complete all program components will receive a certificate at graduation that recognizes completion of the Stone Ridge Global Studies Certificate Program.
