Session I Offerings
- The Morality of Nuclear Weapons
Carole Sargent, SH Associate and Director of Georgetown University’s Office of Scholarly Publications, will focus on the recent conference at the Vatican at which the Pope announced the shift in Catholic thought regarding the morality of nuclear weapons. She is writing a book about Catholic sisters around the world who have been involved in raising awareness about nuclear weapons.
- Ecological Justice
Brooks Zitzmann, a doctoral candidate at Catholic University, will begin by using Scripture and Laudato Si’ to call to mind current eco-social injustices. She will then lead a reflection on the meaning of Biblical justice and how we can each take steps toward healing our relationships with creation to live more gently and justly. Scripture, visual images of Sprout Creek Farm, and time to be outside will enrich the reflection.
11:15 - 12:15 pm ~ “Love Tenderly”
Session II Offerings
- Like Birds in a Windstorm (short documentary)
We will show a 35 minute documentary on the Potawatomi Indians Trail of Death and the descendants of those who survived the forced removal. This will be followed by a discussion of the film.
- Alumnae Presentation
We will be joined by a Stone Ridge alumna who will speak about how she incorporates God’s wisdom, insight and love in her life and the lives of others.
12:15 - 1:45 pm ~ Lunch and Time for Reflection, Meditation and Adoration
1:45 - 2:45 pm ~ “Walk Humbly”
Session III Offerings
- Walking Meditation
Mary Ellen Ruff ‘90 will present a centering statement, followed by a silent, meditative walk around the Stone Ridge campus. The group will then re-convene for an art-based reflection.
- Re-imagining the Examen
Pat Byers, Director of Formation to Mission at Stone Ridge, will present on the technique of prayerful reflection in order to find God and God’s blessings in life.
2:45 - 3:15 pm ~ Closing Reflection and Tirage
Feel free to attend liturgy following the retreat at one of the nearby churches.

- Personal quiet time and the Spiritual Reading Nook are available all day as session options
- Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be provided
