Athletic Facilities

Athletic Center

Acting as the hub for Stone Ridge Athletics programs, the Athletic Center has undergone several renovations in recent years to provide a top tier experience for all Stone Ridge students. The Athletic Center features two basketball/volleyball gymnasiums with recently resurfaced hardwood flooring, upgraded and energy efficient LED lighting and brand new scoreboards and sound systems. Sitting between the two gyms, the Andreas Center is the home of our Gator Strong Strength & Conditioning programs, housing free-weight and cable-resistance machines, in addition to cardio equipment and an open space for functional training. The Andreas Center also features recently remodeled Middle School and Upper School locker room space, as well as a recently expanded and updated Athletic Training Room and Athletics Office Suite, including an Athletics Conference Room utilized by our teams for team meetings and film sessions.

Aquatics Center

The Stone Ridge Aquatic Center has been home to some of the fastest swims in the country. Our 8-lane 25 yard pool features a deep end with two one-meter Duraflex diving boards and brand-new adjustable wedge starting blocks. The pool is readily equipped with a Colorado electronic timing system and scoreboard. Middle School and Upper School record boards and All-American certificates are on display around the pool. The pool is surrounded by bleacher seating for 200 and the facility also features large glass windows and a retractable roof to allow for natural lighting. Male and Female locker rooms and showers are on site, just off the pool deck.

Athletic Fields

With such proximity to downtown Bethesda and Washington, DC, the four athletic fields on campus set Stone Ridge apart in our ability to provide space for our outdoor athletic teams. Our main FieldTurf synthetic turf field just off the entrance to campus is the primary home for our middle and upper school JV and Varsity Soccer, Field Hockey, and Lacrosse games. In addition to the turf field, we have three grass fields on the backside of campus to maximize practice and competition space. Our upper fields consist of a regulation rectangular Bermuda grass field, a multi-use natural grass field (home for our softball program), as well as an open field that our cross-country and track & field student-athletes practice on.

Gator Field & St. Madeleine Sophie Pavilion

Our turf field, winner of the Outstanding Design Award from the 2016 American School & University School Portfolio Awards, was built in 2014 and opened for official play in March 2015. It is a FieldTurf® manufactured and installed first-class field.

It is lined for field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer competitions, and is also used for the School's physical education program, starting with our early learning program children, and for other extracurricular activities.

The stonework surrounding Gator Field is also an award-winning architectural structure, receiving the Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Award in the Masonry category for Exterior Stone.
