Gator Strong Summer
The Gator Strong Summer Program 2019 is a functional training and athletic conditioning program to improve overall fitness, strength, agility, and quickness - with an emphasis on injury prevention quality movement patterns.
The Stone Ridge Athletic Department is excited to announce a collaboration with Healthy Baller to run the SR Gator Strong Summer program in 2019. Healthy Baller is a Rockville, MD based Strength and Conditioning organization and regional leader in strength and conditioning programming for middle and high school aged girls. After beginning to work with several SR upper school teams on campus this past spring, Healthy Baller Strength and Conditioning Coaches Matt Boyd and Derek Fuller will be the primary strength and conditioning coaches leading the SR Gator Strong Summer program in 2019.
Gator Strong Athletes will:
- Build confidence in their abilities
- Learn how to train and take care of their bodies for optimal performance
- Create a bond with fellow Stone Ridge girls
- Be more prepared to excel in the upcoming school year
The Gator Strong program will be open to any Stone Ridge Girl entering Grades 8-12 in the fall of 2019. The programming will be designed to cater to all Stone Ridge girls, with groups for both novice and advanced physical fitness levels. Training groups will be split up by the coaching staff according to physical fitness to maximize the program for each girl, whether Varsity or JV student-athletes, or girls just seeking to improve overall fitness.

Coach Matt Boyd has been training athletes of all ages in the DC Metro area since 2009. Matt’s coaching experience, along with his background as a Division I collegiate baseball player and education in exercise science has given him a unique understanding of the physical demands placed on today’s high school student-athletes. Matt began training middle school and high school athletes as an Explosive Performance Coach at the Sport and Health in Bethesda prior to co-founding Healthy Baller in 2015. In school settings, Matt has worked with the teams at Bishop Ireton (Alexandria, VA) and St. John’s College High School (Washington, DC). Matt has also worked with several professional basketball teams in China, as well as Taiwan’s Men’s National Team. Matt is a Certified Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength Professionals Association and a Functional Movement FMS Level 1 Certified Coach.
Coach Derek Fuller has been training athletes since 2014. Derek’s expertise lies in working with and motivating middle school and high school aged athletes to become the best version of themselves both physically and mentally. Through intentional programming, Derek has coached a wide range of student-athletes, from those that are completely new to sports to those that are looking to pursue the highest level of athletics after high school. Soccer ignited Derek’s passion for sports as he played both collegiately and semi-professionally. Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Frostburg State University and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
