Coach Gloria has been playing hockey since she was 4 years old. When she was at in high school in Kenya, her U14 field hockey team went undefeated for two, straight years and upset their U21 senior team as well as the reigning national team at a senior tournament. Her team was then chosen to represent Kenya on a tour to the Netherlands to face club and national youth teams, where they continued their undefeated streak.
A four-year, division I field hockey player at Syracuse University, Gloria has also played club field hockey in Boston, Switzerland, Uganda and now in D.C. with the D.C. Dragons. Her most recent international competition was the 2014 Africa Club Championships that was held in Kampala, Uganda. Gloria has been coaching field hockey for over seven years, predominantly at summer and spring camps, and currently coaches club and rec field hockey with Koa Sports.
Gloria holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a master’s degree in international relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, both at Syracuse University.She currently works as a program communications specialist at an anti-hunger foundation in D.C.
