NOTE: Pick-up and drop-off locations have a minimum ridership level. If minimum ridership levels are not reached, a particular pick-up and/or drop-off location may be eliminated.
The outside transportation providers in this area could not provide pricing that would enable us to keep from significantly increasing prices, given the reduced ridership associated with the social distancing requirements. As a result, we will utilize the Stone Ridge owned 14 passenger mini-buses for these Virginia routes. These buses will be driven by Stone Ridge employees who have been screened and trained as bus drivers.
In addition, we will NOT be sharing the buses with Georgetown Prep students, at this time.
- Masks must be worn at all times while riding the bus
- Windows will remain cracked open (weather dependent)
- Students must complete Magnus Health app questionnaire prior to departing their house
- Bus capacity will be 50%
- Every other seat must be left empty
- One student per seat (except siblings)
Boarding of School Bus
Parents are restricted from boarding any Stone Ridge bus; this includes any bus contracted to provide services to Stone Ridge. Only students enrolled in the Stone Ridge Student Transportation Program are allowed on the bus. Bus drivers have been instructed to enforce this regulation.
Daily Bus Manifest
Daily, a manifest will be created for each bus run to account for the students who board and ride the bus to and from Stone Ridge. It will be the responsibility of each student to clearly state her/his name to the bus driver upon boarding.
Prompt Pick-Up & Drop-Off
Parents are expected to promptly pick-up and drop-off their child(ren) at each bus stop. As our bus runs have multiple stops, it is imperative that the bus remains on schedule. The bus will not remain at any stop longer than 5 minutes passed to scheduled pick-up time subject to traffic conditions at the time. Due to the unpredictable nature of traffic in our area, the bus may arrive early or be a few minutes late.
Emergency Closure of School
Unless otherwise informed, Stone Ridge will follow Montgomery County Public Schools for all emergency closures of Stone Ridge. Parents shall be responsible for monitoring Montgomery County Emergency Information sources and buses shall operate during inclement weather conditions unless school is canceled.
- If school is delayed, Stone Ridge may open two hours late and bus transportation shall be delayed by two hours from the regularly scheduled pick-up time(s).
- If school closes early, Stone Ridge may close 2.5 hours early and bus transportation shall be moved up by 2.5 hours from the regularly scheduled drop-off time(s).
ENROLLMENT in STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES:
Families may enroll online below for Student Transportation services. Contracts are due for Stone Ridge families by Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Contracts received after this date may not be accepted due to limited seating. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
The Virginia Student Transportation Fees for 2020-2021
- Two-Way (Morning AND Afternoon Route) $700 per rider through December 31, 2020.
- January 11 - June, 2021: Two-Way (Morning AND Afternoon Routes) $1650 per student; however; we are extending a $250 refund for the Fall program. This is compensation for transportation days that were not used because the school was operating in an all-virtual format.
Busing plans and pricing for January-June will be determined and announced at a later date. Bus prices are a flat rate; Stone Ridge will not prorate fees for families who may choose to enroll later in the school year (provided there is a seat available).
