Upper School Visual Arts Teacher

Stone Ridge is seeking a Full Time Upper School Fine Arts Teacher to begin on August 19, 2021.
The Upper School Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for teaching fine arts in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.
Possessing strong knowledge of studio drawing and painting, printmaking, and mixed media, s/he teaches Foundations of Studio Art and prepares student artwork for school exhibitions. Working closely with colleagues in the Visual Arts Department and throughout the Upper School, s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
The ideal candidate has experience in independent and/or Catholic school. S/he has taught high school fine arts and experience integrating modern media into traditional studio art practices. The ideal candidate will teach 2D art (drawing and paining) and introduce students to concepts of 3D art. S/he develops, in students, both an appreciation of fine arts and the ability to develop portfolios as they pursue further studies.

Director of Educational Technology and Innovation

Stone Ridge is seeking a Director of Educational Technology (EdTech) and Innovation to begin July, 2021.
The Director of EdTech and Innovation, reporting to the Head of School, provides whole-school leadership on all technology and innovation initiatives. S/he will maintain current and ongoing EdTech initiatives such as the device programs, professional development, K-12 technology course oversight, understanding global technology trends, the School’s virtual learning program etc. S/he will work collaboratively with many stakeholders to plan for and execute the technology strategic initiatives outlined by the school. The Director of EdTech and Innovation will oversee the work of the Middle and Upper School educational technologists as well as the IT Department in order to create consistency and to make pedagogically-centered decisions. S/he will also serve to support the divisions in EdTech work by providing professional development, team-teaching, and supporting the efforts to integrate technology where appropriate. S/he will serve as a member of the School’s Management Team and work with all faculty and staff to ensure that the program and operations reflect the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education as best practices in technology and pedagogy. The Director of EdTech and Innovation will demonstrate a commitment to the Goals and Criteria through a professional and caring demeanor.
The ideal candidate has experience in independent and/or Catholic school and possesses an advanced degree in a related field. S/he exhibits a passion for and love of adult education, virtual/hybrid learning, familiarity with trends in educational technology and social media; experience in robotics, coding, and computer science are desired skills. The Technical Director is responsible for managing and implementing the technical requirements of all theater productions and music concerts, managing the technical resources of the performing arts facility, and teaching the Technical Theater Class in the Middle and Upper Schools. Working closely with the performing arts department, s/he will assist in coordinating the technical demands of overlapping productions and performances in the theater space, maintaining the safety and efficiency in all technical facilities, and fostering a professional, collegial relationship with all production coordinators and school personnel. In addition, s/he will participate in the management of house staff, stage managers, technical running crews and marketing staff, and teach the Introduction to Technical Theater class and more advanced levels as the school requires. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 100 lbs., climb ladders, use power tools and use the catwalks.
The ideal candidate has a Master of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Technical Theater, or equivalent professional experience. Reporting to the Head of School, the Head of Middle School is responsible for the overall spiritual and academic leadership of the Middle School. S/he maintains congruence among the School's mission and all activities and operations of the Middle School, serving as a member of the Administrative, Management, and Academic Leadership Teams. S/he acts as the educational leader of the Middle School, responsible for its day-to-day operation, and functions as the chief articulator of programs, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure that all constituencies are fully informed.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, the Head of Middle School:
- Observes and evaluates the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum.
- Makes recommendations to the Head of School regarding the hiring, retention, and assignment of faculty.
- Develops plans for meeting those needs in conjunction with learning support teams.
- Oversees and guides the activities of the department.
- Facilitates co-curricular and extra-curricular activity programs of the school.
- Assists in the planning and the presentation of school assemblies and programs.
- Assists in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of school events.
- Along with the Assistant Heads of Middle School, the Head of Middle School is responsible for establishing guidelines for proper student conduct and dress; maintaining student discipline consistent with school policies, monitoring students' adherence to established school rules, and maintaining accurate records of student attendance and citizenship.
- S/he works closely with the Director of Enrollment Management and the Admissions Team to attract, admit, and obtain new students.
- S/he maintains regular communication with parents about the life of the school. This includes regular coordination with the Director of Marketing and Communications for key external communications.

Middle School In Person Classroom Proctor

Stone Ridge is seeking responsible and engaging candidates to serve as in-person Remote Learning Class Proctors beginning in January 2021.
The In-Person Remote Learning Class Proctors are responsible for supervising students ranging from grades 5- 8. Proctors will supervise students when a teacher is out of the class; responsibilities might include substituting when a teacher is absent, monitoring a class while a teacher instructs remotely, or supervising students during lunch and break periods. Proctors will coordinate with teachers as needed to manage classes and materials.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising students in groups of 10-11 students
- Maintaining classroom protocols
- Ensuring proper health and safety protocols are followed
- Guiding students through minor technical issues
- Creating a warm, welcoming and safe environment for learning
- Supervising and engaging students during downtime
The ideal candidate will be experienced working with children in this age range, have a flexible schedule and a comfort with technology, and will model healthy behaviors in a classroom setting. Professionalism, creativity with engaging children, maturity and the ability to deal with unpredictability are vital in this role. S/he holds a high school diploma or equivalent, can adapt quickly to ever-changing group dynamics and has prior work/experience in providing child care and/or experience in an educational/camp field. Prior work/volunteer experience in an educational setting is preferred.
This position is temporary and can be half-day or full-day. The full-day schedule could vary, but will likely be Monday through Friday from 7:45 am -3:45 pm. The position begins in January. There are no benefits associated with the position. The salary range is between $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience.

Grades 1-4 Substitute Teacher

Adjunct Music Teachers

Adjunct Music Teachers are responsible for teaching all assigned material aligned with The Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Ideal candidates have a flexible schedule to include teaching in the afternoon/early evening. Adjunct Music Teachers may be invited to occasionally assist/perform at Stone Ridge performance events. Each is asked to maintain appropriate records of lessons and regular communication with parents, as needed.
Adjunct Music Teachers support the after school music and curricular ensemble program in one or more of the following areas: Piano - Suzuki & non Suzuki, Strings - Suzuki & non Suzuki, Liturgical Musicians, Voice, Woodwinds, Brass, and/or Percussion.
