Stone Ridge is seeking a part-time (20%) Upper School AP African American Studies Teacher to begin in August 2025.
The Upper School History Teacher is responsible for teaching history or social sciences in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.
The Upper School Advanced Placement African American Studies Teacher:
- possesses strong knowledge of United States history, historiography, and facility for advanced humanities research writing and instruction.
- will teach one section of Advanced Placement African American Studies. AP African American Studies includes four major sections as defined by the College Board curriculum: Origins of the African Diaspora, Freedom, Enslavement and Resistance, The Practice of Freedom, and Movements and Debates.
- will collaborate closely with colleagues in the History department and throughout the Upper School.
- create and update plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum
- actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.
- attends faculty and employee meetings as they are able and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.
Requirements and Qualifications
- a track record of successful teaching, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into her/his teaching.
- familiarity with current emphases on writing instruction, research, and source citation methodology (specific knowledge of digital media production a plus), and Understanding by Design.

Compensation includes a stipend of $10,000 for teaching one section of this class.

LS/MS Campus Minister
Stone Ridge is seeking a Middle School Campus Minister to begin August 13, 2025.
The Lower/Middle School Campus Minister is responsible for supporting the faith development in the Lower and Middle School community in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.
The Campus Minister:
- collaborates with the campus ministry team and the Middle School religion teachers in planning and preparing for division and grade level liturgies and prayer services.
- leads the Grade 8 Confirmation Class (requiring occasional after-school commitments).
- provides pastoral care to students and families, as needed.
- facilitates the MS Student Ministry.
- collaborates with the Campus Ministry team in planning and preparation for All-School prayer services and liturgies.
- collaborates with other faculty members to organize grade-level liturgies and prayer services.
- attends LS and MS Assemblies and serves as a resource and support for planning assemblies on mission and ministry-related themes.
- provides leadership for the Middle School religion teachers in planning and implementing liturgical season activities.
- collaborates with Lower and Middle school faculty members to coordinate Generous Hearts and Service projects and initiatives.
- will participate in weekend events (about 3 per year).

Lower School Reading Specialist
Stone Ridge is seeking a Lower School Reading Specialist to begin August 13, 2025.
The Lower School Reading Specialist is responsible for supporting our elementary learners in developing strong foundational literacy skills. The Reading Specialist will collaborate with faculty, students, teachers, and families to provide a seamless, data-driven approach to reading instruction and intervention.
The Reading Specialist will:
- use research-based methodologies to provide targeted, systematic, and explicit reading instruction to emergent readers.
- support students at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels through individualized and small-group instruction.
- collaborate with classroom teachers to review student progress, adjust instruction, and plan for differentiated literacy support.
- assist teachers in developing small-group instruction that aligns with best practices in early literacy.
- regularly communicate with families, providing updates on student progress, home support strategies, and literacy development guidance.
- utilize diagnostic assessments and ongoing progress monitoring to inform instruction and intervention planning.
- contribute to a school-wide literacy culture by supporting best practices and ensuring classroom consistency.
- work with the Student Support Team to ensure appropriate accommodations and interventions for struggling readers.
Essential Skills and Experience:

Middle School Counselor
Stone Ridge is seeking a Middle School Counselor to begin work in August 2025.
The Middle School Counselor plays a vital role in fostering students’ social, emotional, and personal growth. In collaboration with the other Middle School Counselor, faculty, staff, and administrators, the Counselor ensures a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all students are valued and empowered to reach their full potential. Through a comprehensive counseling program, the Counselor promotes student well-being, strengthens belonging, and addresses the diverse needs of every student.
The Middle School Counselor will perform in the following areas:
Student support:
- provide individual and small-group counseling focused on students’ social, emotional, and psychological well-being.
- assist students in areas of emotional regulation, relationship-building, identity development, social and emotional development and personal growth.
- serve as a consistent, trusted presence for students.
- collaborate with faculty, staff, and parents to understand and meet the students’ emotional and social needs.
- create a safe and welcoming environment that fosters inclusivity and belonging for all students.
- make appropriate referrals for students and parents to outside agencies as needed.
- work closely with Learning Strategists, Educational Technologists, and teachers to develop student support strategies.
- serve as a collaborative member of the Middle School Student Support Team.

Teaching & Professional Development
- develop and deliver counseling curriculum on topics such as empathy, digital citizenship, conflict resolution, stress management, and inclusivity.
- serve as a Middle School Advisor and other duties as assigned.
- support faculty professional development in adolescent mental health.
- contribute to school-wide initiatives promoting social-emotional learning and equity-focused mental health practices.
- actively engage in professional growth to remain current in best practices within the counseling field and to enhance cultural competency.
- actively participate in the new employee formation program.
- support school events, athletic games, masses, retreats, social action, and other initiatives, contributing to a positive, student-centered community where relationships are marked by mutual respect and care.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in school counseling, social work, psychology or related field.
- Maryland State license and/or certification preferred
- Minimum of five years relevant counseling experience, ideally in Catholic and/or independent schools with adolescent girls, especially middle school aged, and their families.
Essential skills and characteristics:
- Excellent technology skills, including experience using the Google suite, Magnus, our Student Health Information System, or another such system.
- Strong knowledge of ethical and legal considerations related to school-based counseling practices.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills.

Director of Social Action
Stone Ridge is seeking a Director of Social Action to begin in August 2025.
The Director of Social Action provides leadership and coordination for the Upper School Social Action Program in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education:
- organizes every aspect of the Social Action program, including: morning presentations and afternoon reflections; training and support of Fourth Academic Social Action Leaders; sites for Second, Third, and Fourth Academic student visits; transportation for students and faculty; communication with families; and the cultivation of student leadership throughout the program.
- is responsible for developing areas of growth for the program, including partnerships with local organizations, determining and designating placement of students at particular sites, and communicating with partner organizations about the nature and requirements of our program.
- in conjunction with the Head of Upper School, the Director of Social Action manages the budget for the program and expenditures for Student leadership.
- The Director of Social Action also coordinates student participation in the Network of Sacred Heart Schools Summer Service Projects.
The Director of Social Action:
- teaches two class as a member of the Upper School Faculty, actively collaborating with Learning Specialists, Librarians, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.

Middle School Life Science Teacher

The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for designing curriculum in alignment with the Maryland State Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for middle-grade students as well as with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Using core ideas from the three major scientific domains articulated in the NGSS, the Stone Ridge Middle School science teachers endeavor to help their students:
- gain a deep understanding of foundational science and scientific concepts;
- apply scientific and technical knowledge to real-world problems in a systematic and rational manner;
- develop life-long learning habits;
- cultivate curiosity; and
- learn through inquiry and discovery with the aspiration of developing a deep understanding of and ability to solve real-world problems.
Working closely with departmental and grade-level colleagues, the successful Science Teacher will:

Associate Director of Marketing and Communications
Stone Ridge is seeking an Associate Director of Marketing and Communication to begin during Summer 2025.
The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for:
- larger, strategic projects that support the mission of the School, including project management for the department, the Stone Ridge Magazine, video strategy, advertising, and digital marketing funnels.
- acting as the project management lead for the office, developing and overseeing project management tools and systems for the organization, execution, and optimization of the team’s workflows and deliverables.
- planning ahead seasonally for major projects, providing support to colleagues on use of our project management system (currently Monday.com), and maintaining updated dashboards for reporting out to leadership.
- collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop digital marketing campaigns (including landing pages, email funnels, and digital advertising) and oversee campaign execution and optimization.
- acting as lead liaison with the advertising vendor to manage digital campaigns and oversee reporting from vendors and analytics tracking, using data to optimize campaigns.
- collaborating with Branding and Design Lead and Content Strategist and Copywriter on ad creation and on managing content and presence on external online directories and websites (including niche.com, Wikipedia, Private School Review, etc.)
- maintaining awareness of school market trends being used among market basket schools.
- building and cultivating relationships with faculty, staff, students and parents while encouraging all constituents to share community-made marketing content.
- collaborating as part of a team, managing numerous projects and timelines at once and meeting regularly to review and prioritize projects.
- helping to build an overall positive work environment and team experience.
- seeking out formal and informal training opportunities to improve one’s professional skills.

Requirements/qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in English or Marketing/Communications or a related field.
