Dance

Dance at Stone Ridge is offered through the Physical Education Department in a variety of units and courses throughout the lower, middle and upper schools. In the lower and middle schools, dance is introduced in a developmentally appropriate sequence during physical education classes to not only spur creativity in our students in an overlap with the performing arts, but also to introduce different movement patterns and body awareness in both small and large group settings. The physical skills introduced and developed through our dance programs lay the groundwork for our students to practice a healthy and active lifestyle, whether in the pursuit of dance, on the athletic field, or simply as a mode of exercise and self expression.

Dance classes in the upper school are more extensive, culminating in performances that are also choreographed by our students. Our dual credit dance classes offer the opportunity for students to accumulate credits in both physical education and performing arts to fulfill graduation requirements.
