Explorer Day

Our Middle School recently participated in their third Explorer Day this year. Students considered how Catholic Social Teaching, Justice, and Art can help us to bring Christ's heart into the world. The morning prayer service grounded students in Goal I: A personal and active faith in God, as students reflected on Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season.

The first speaker was Chloe Becker, an impressive young woman who makes Catholic art for justice. Chloe is incredibly relevant to our students as she is a recent graduate of Magnificat High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Ohio. She lives out her faith and Catholic Social Teaching through her artwork. Next, the students were visited by Lucia Da Costa Lima, Stone Ridge Lower School Music and Movement Specialist, to lead some movement activities and a reflection on a performance from Alvin Aileys' "Revelations.” And finally, students met and engage in a workshop with Social Justice artist, Jayma Natal. Her mission is to artistically fight against racial injustices everywhere.
