Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart was represented in a national, philanthropic, leadership campaign this past winter for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS Students of the Year campaign was founded nine years ago in the National Capital Area and has grown to now be national. It is a seven-week fundraising challenge with the goal of student visionaries raising funds and awareness for the mission of LLS: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of parties and their families.
This year, the Stone Ridge team, Gators Beat Blood Cancer, was led by Kate Aronson ‘23, Samantha Aronson ‘23, and Ella Hunter ‘23 with the support of their dedicated team members including Alexis Battle ‘22, Julia Capuano ‘23, Claudia Donatelli ‘24, Ava Guiterman ‘24, Emanuelle Chloe Hair ‘24, Claire Hohman ‘23, Kali Leibrand ‘25, Emma Mulford ‘23, Maggie Myers ‘24, Reagan Raffo ‘23, Rosie Schramm ‘23, and Nina Sinkford ‘23. Team Gators Beat Blood Cancer dedicated countless hours to this fundraising challenge benefiting LLS’s mission of curing blood cancers.
This incredible team raised over $260,000 for the mission! This team along with 40 other teams across the National Capital Area, collectively raised over $3.6 Million, breaking records for the local campaign and on a national level. LLS thanks the Stone Ridge community for their support of Team Gators Beat Blood Cancer.
Allison Courtney, Campaign Development Director of Students of the Year, said “This generation of visionaries stood up in the fight against cancer. I was continually impressed with the team as well as the incredible support they received from their school and peers. This group is filled with bright, insightful, imaginative, compassionate, and dedicated students who truly understand others. I have no doubt that these wonderful qualities are reinforced by the amazing teachers and administration at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart every day. I have every confidence that these students have a bright future ahead of them. I know you will join me in congratulating these young philanthropic visionaries and their team members on their remarkable success!”
